Published to accompany the exhibition at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, this book stems from the donation by the Vigo heirs of the artist’s archival collection to CASVA (Center for Advanced Studies in the Visual Arts of the City of Milan). The book offers a rigorous and evocative overview of Nanda Vigo’s vast multidisciplinary body of work.
The “synecdoche” evoked in the title represents the desire to convey the complexity of the entire artistic body of work through a selection of emblematic fragments: archival documents, sketches, vintage photographs, and largely unpublished projects, which convey the revolutionary scope of her “science-fiction archaeology.” Through extensively documented critical essays and a highly refined collection of images, the book explores the many facets of Nanda Vigo’s work, breaking down the conventional boundaries between disciplines.
